The History Behind Oak Tree: A Bed Time Story by Bill and Ron

In 1998, armed with very little money and even less intelligence, Ron Snyder and Bill Johnston put their heads together and, after the swelling went down; "oak tree woodworking supplies" became reality in November, the day after thanksgiving.

With over 50 years combined experience in woodworking, customer service, and shouts of "you guys are nuts," and "you'll never make it" echoing around them (wives are like that), the boys proceeded to take the area by storm.

With Ron's wife Deb as the office manager and Bills' wife Diane helping out during vacations and special occasions, they quickly became a force to be reckoned with, pulling in two, three; even four customers a week.

Within 2 years the dynamic duo had hired Rick Waldrop to run the service department, as long as Rick agreed to work "only when he felt like it".

 In 2003 they added Jim Gemmaka, who brought with him more retail experience than the rest of the team put together (plus, he said he'd work for food. Looking back now... we would have been better off paying him). Jim is now "semi" retired but still stops in to give us a hard time.

In March of 2007 Bruce Hagen took over the outside sales duties and we haven't seen him since. Rumor has it he's still out there somewhere.

Well, that's the story. The business continues to grow and our thanks go out to our customers and friends who have made all of this possible.
